Review Of The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu

*DISCLAIMER* If you are sensitive to explicit content such as alcohol, and sex DO NOT read this book.

This is a very intense book that has to do with death and rumors gone to far.

Alice Franklin is accused of sleeping with two guys on the same night at the same party and with Healy, Texas being such a small town word gets out fast. Then if things couldn't get worse one of the guys she's accused of sleeping with Brandon  Fitzsimmons dies in a terrible car accident. People begin slut-shaming her and blame her for Brandon's death because of some "dirty texts", even her best friend Kelsie abandons her because she doesn't want to be associated with her. Everyone in Healy High becomes cruel to her by calling her slut and murderer and they even make a stall in the bath writing terrible things about her and they call it the slut stall.

My thoughts on this book: The writing style of this book is very unique it comes from 5 POV's: Elaine who threw the party of which Alice is rumored to have slept with two guys, Kelsie who was Alice's former best friend, Josh the best friend of Brandon Fitzsimmons, Kurt who is a social outcast because he is really smart and was the neighbor of Brandon and he wants to befriend Alice, and Alice we don't actually get to hear from her until the last chapter of the book.  I really licked this concept because it was like a game of telephone where everything that was said about Alice gets twisted everytime something that was said. And we got to read what everybody else thought about her and I loved the way it warped up with Alice finally being the one to talk.

Opinions: I think it's a good lesson for middle/high schoolers to not be so quick to judge and to slut shame I mean it could ruin a persons life and how could you judge without letting them explain there side of the story because no one never asked Alice if it was true or not.

Overall: I give this 4 out of 5 stars I liked this other peoples points of views and I like the way it ended.

You can buy The Truth About Alice: HERE

Also HUGE thanks to Fierce Reads for sending me a copy of this book.

Review Of Dr.A.G.by Christopher Logan

DR. A. G. by Christopher Logan is a coffee table book of legendary drag queens if you are a drag fan you must pick this up.

Drag is an art and is basically men dressing as woman. Mostly famous in Vegas they impersonate celebrities but out of no where drag took over the world and this book shows the most well know and beautiful drag queens around the world.

As a big fan of drag I was thrilled when I got sent this to review I appreciate drag very much and I live for these queens. This book showcases queens from all walks of life from Vegas to Rupaul's Drag Race.  It so amazing seeing all the different styles of drag that's out there and this shows the different sides of drag and it's so amazing to see that drag does not have one style and that drag can be whatever you want it to be.

I give this 5 out of 5 stars a must get filled with amazing pictures that will make you live. If you're a drag fan or just a lover of art pick this up you won't regret it.

Reading Slumps SUCK!

So recently I have fallen into a reading slump. Yes I know tragic really I was reading a book (not gonna say which one) and it just was so depressing I fell into a reading slump. Now what do you do when a book puts you in a reading slump do you just walk away and not finish it? Because I have no idea I've never been in one before.
So I asked some of my amazing followers on twitter what I should do and @Walnutwolff and @TheLorenaLeon had some good suggestions:

So I took both of there suggestions and went to browse online at some books and I remembered I saw the trailer for If I Stay by Gayle Forman so I picked it up and I'm almost done. (let me know if you want a review)

And then I reread City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare because I couldn't remember it and I wanted to start the series so I'm waiting to get my hands on the second one (also let me know if you guys want a review)

So thank you both for the tips and make sure you follow them I put there links up there and take some notes for next time you find yourself in a reading slump.

Review Of Branded By Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki

This is a must read for 2014 such an amazing book.
Lexi’s life hasn't been great her father who she loves deeply passes away and her brother runs away, with everybody gone Lexi’s mom remarries an evil man and is falsely accused. Lexi is taken to “the hole” an evil place where they put sinners in and there are not rights at all and Lexi is branded with lust. A bright blue band is tattooed onto her neck showing everyone she is a sinner but she didn’t do nothing wrong. Lexi is forced to have a personal guard Cole who has to escort her everywhere and is forced to treat her with no respect, but it’s a different story behind closed doors. But in the hole love is forbidden the commander thinks that’s the biggest sin of all and should be punished by death.
My thoughts on this book: this is such an awesome book a must read for all young adult fans. I fell so in love with the characters I mean thanks for adding a new ship to my list of ya ships. It’s so amazing seeing how Lexi transforms into such a kick butt lady. And watching Cole slowly get feelings for Lexi just makes you all mushy inside. And Zeus is the best dog to ever be in a book I love his derpy butt.
Opinions: this concept for the book is so amazing I’ve never heard of such an awesome story before. The writing was fantastic it felt so intimate and personal I love how these two amazing ladies made the characters come to life and made you root for them or boo at them.
Overall: such an amazing book no doubt in my mind a 5 out of 5 stars a must read, put it into your tbr you won’t regret it. And thank you Abi and Missy for letting me review this and I can’t wait for the next one.

Do You Judge Books By Their Cover?

I know I judge books by there covers, I think we all are a little bit guilty of doing so. I’ve got some books that had beautiful covers but where boring story’s and I’ve gotten books that I don’t like the covers of and it turn out to be an awesome book.
Take divergent for example I’m not a big fan of the cover I full heartily confess that I only read because it was being turned into a movie. The cover kinda of threw me off I thought it look boring but wow now I’ve read all 3.
Then on the other side of the spectrum we have gorgeous covers that turn out to be dull books. My example is The Luxe the cover is beautiful but I’ve try to read it about 5 times but never gotten into it.
I guess the lesson we learn here is don’t judge a book by its cover, or do I’ve seen beautiful covers that where awesome books (shatter me, cruel beauty, and many others). But just because the cover is too plain or too girly or too masculine always give it a try you never know it might become your favorite book.
Leave down in the comments which books you’ve judge by it’s cover and was it good or bad?
And as always sign up for email alerts and you’ll get an email everytime I post.
Until then have a book-tastic day

Ashley

Coming in at number 4 is Zoey Redbird from the House Of Night series
Being basically the next hand picked High Priestesses by vampyre Goddess Nyx isn't as fun as it sounds Zoey always haves to be on the lookout friends become enemies and enemies become friends you never know what can happen at the House of Night but know this Zoey is always there to protect her friends and kick some butt while shes at it.

Next our list is Juliette Ferries from the Shatter Me series

Book review of YOU by Charles Benoit

Book review of YOU by Charles Benoit
My thoughts on this book:
I love the second person point of view it was so unique and original in YA books.
The book is witty and sad at the same time I laughed out loud at some points.
When Zack got introduce I didn’t get any bad vibes from him I thought he was different and outspoken. But half way though the book I felt like he turned into the joker I just pictured him being all evil. Kyle is such a chill guy I felt so bad for him I felt like he was kind of like the anti hero, he stay true to himself the whole time and I like that.

Kyle is a teenage boy who’s in high school and hangs with his gang called “the hoddies”. Kyle is a troubled teen he haves anger issues with random bursts of anger, his parents are hounding him to find a job, and his grades are failing, and he haves a huge crush on long time friend Ashley. Everything is “normal” until he meets Zack a transfer, Zack is an unique person he wears flamboyant clothes and throws outrages party’s.
In the beginning Zack is very friendly and even helps Kyle with his bullies. Then after Kyle went to Zack’s party people who knew Zack started to warn him that Zack know people’s weakness and he will use it against them in the worst way.

Overall:
I really did like this book I think high schoolers should read this it’s witty and cunning and tragic at the same time.

Opinions:
I just didn’t like the ending I wish there was more details
I give this 4 out of 5 stars
